Bulky waste is anything too big for your wheelie bin: three-piece suites, sofa beds, mattresses and divan bases, wardrobes, chests of drawers, dining tables, fridges and freezers, washing machines, cookers, televisions, garden furniture, exercise equipment, sheds and flat-pack that has finally given up. We take all of it, from any floor, with no item limit and no requirement to book a slot weeks in advance.

The practical difference between our service and a council bulky waste collection is speed and access. Councils operate a booked collection with a waiting list, a strict cap on the number of items, and a kerbside rule — you must get everything to the front boundary yourself before the crew arrives. If you cannot carry a double divan down two flights of stairs, that is where a council booking quietly fails. Our crews come inside, dismantle if needed, protect the flooring on the way out and load everything themselves.

We also take items councils routinely refuse. Fridges and freezers containing refrigerant gases, plasterboard, tyres, small quantities of rubble, commercial or trade waste from a home business, and mixed loads that combine furniture with general clutter are all fine for us. Everything is handled under our Environment Agency upper-tier carrier licence and comes with a waste transfer note.

Pricing is by the volume the items take up in the van, so a single mattress is a minimum load and a full lounge suite plus bedroom furniture is closer to a half or full van. A minimum load is £45, a quarter van around £90, a half van around £140 and a full Luton van around £250. There is no surcharge for stairs, no charge for dismantling, and no mileage surcharge anywhere inside the 20-mile radius.

Nothing gets tipped as a mixed load. Sofas and armchairs are checked for fire labels and, where they are sound and compliant, routed to reuse charities. Working white goods go for reuse or WEEE recycling, metal frames go to scrap, timber is chipped, and mattresses are stripped down so the springs, foam and textile fabric are separated. More than 90% of what we collect is recycled, reused or recovered rather than landfilled.

If you are clearing an entire property rather than a handful of items, a full house clearance usually works out cheaper per item than a series of bulky collections, and we can switch the quote across at the booking stage. Equally, if you only need one thing gone today, we run single-item collections all week — most are booked in the morning and cleared the same afternoon.
