Furniture removal is mostly a problem of access rather than disposal. Getting a three-seater out of a first-floor Victorian flat in Moseley, a corner suite around the turn of a Kings Heath staircase, or a solid oak wardrobe out of a Harborne loft conversion takes two experienced people, the right straps and trolleys, and the willingness to take the item apart when it simply will not turn the corner. That is what our two-person crews do all day, and it is why we do not charge extra for stairs, long carries or awkward access.

We protect the property on the way out. Floor runners go down in hallways, door frames and banister posts are padded, and heavy items are strapped to a stair-climbing trolley rather than dragged. If a piece has to be dismantled we do it in situ and remove the parts, at no extra charge.

Every item is assessed for reuse before anything else is considered. Sofas and armchairs need an intact permanent fire-safety label to be legally reused or resold, so that is the first thing our crew checks — if the label is there and the frame is sound, the item goes to a local furniture reuse charity rather than into the back of the van as waste. Working white goods and PAT-testable electricals follow the same route.

What cannot be reused is broken down at our transfer station rather than tipped as a mixed load. Timber frames are chipped, steel springs, legs and bed frames go to scrap, foam is recovered where the grade allows, glass and mirror are separated, and mattresses are stripped into their component springs, foam and textile. That is how we keep more than 90% of collected furniture out of landfill.

We collect from houses, flats, HMOs, student lets, offices, shops, care homes and landlord voids across every Birmingham postcode and the surrounding 20 miles. There is no item limit and no minimum job size — a single dining chair is as welcome as a five-bedroom houseful, and multiple items are always cheaper per piece than booking them one at a time.

Pricing is by volume: £45 for a minimum load, around £90 for a quarter van, £140 for a half van and £250 for a full Luton. Every collection includes two crew, the loading and carrying, transport, disposal fees and a waste transfer note emailed the same day as proof of lawful disposal — required under your duty of care whether you are a household or a business.

    Sofa Removal in Birmingham

Sofas are the single most-collected item we handle, and the most awkward. A two or three-seater is typically £45 to £60, a corner suite or sofa bed £60 to £90, collected from any floor. Where a sofa will not fit back through the doorway it came in through — common in converted flats where it was originally craned or built in place — our crews dismantle the frame and remove it in sections rather than damaging the property.

Sofas with an intact fire label and a sound frame go to reuse charities first. The rest are stripped for timber, steel and foam recovery. If you would rather try the free routes first, our guide to getting rid of an old sofa in Birmingham compares council collection, charity donation and the tip against a paid removal.

Mattress and Bed Removal in Birmingham

Mattresses cannot go in a wheelie bin and are refused by most charities on hygiene grounds regardless of condition, which leaves a booked collection or a trip to a permit-restricted recycling centre. We collect single mattresses from £45 and divan bases, headboards and bed frames alongside them, dismantling the frame where it will not come down the stairs whole.

Mattresses are not landfilled. They go to a dedicated processor where the springs are separated for scrap steel, the foam is recovered and the textile layers are shredded for reuse as industrial felt.

Wardrobe, Bedroom and Dining Furniture Removal

Wardrobes, chests of drawers, dressing tables, dining tables and sideboards make up most of the rest of our furniture work. Flat-pack wardrobes rarely survive being moved intact and are dismantled on the spot; solid wood and fitted units are taken apart with hand tools and the panels carried out flat, which is faster and far kinder to the paintwork than trying to wrestle a full carcass down a staircase.

Typical prices: wardrobe £40 to £60, chest of drawers £30 to £40, dining table and chairs £50 to £70, full bedroom set around £90. Book several items together and it is priced as one part load rather than item by item, which is nearly always cheaper.

Yes, and there is no extra charge for it. Our crews collect from upper floors, loft rooms, cellars and flats without lifts every day, using stair trolleys, straps and floor protection to get items out without damaging the property.

Yes, included as standard. Beds, wardrobes, flat-pack units, sofa frames and shed contents are taken apart in situ where they will not come out whole, and the parts carried out flat.

Anything sound and reusable is offered to local furniture reuse charities first — sofas need an intact fire-safety label to qualify. The rest is broken down for recycling: timber chipped, metal to scrap, foam recovered, mattresses stripped into springs, foam and textile. Over 90% avoids landfill.

Regularly. Office desks and chairs, HMO and student let clear-outs, care home refurbishments and landlord voids are all standard work for us, invoiced with full duty-of-care paperwork and available outside trading hours.

Usually. Call before midday and we can normally collect that afternoon; otherwise most bookings are cleared within 24 to 48 hours, seven days a week at the same price.
